This header was added to POPcon's list of email header fields processed for recipient addresses upon customer request.
- New: "String found in Header fields" condition
You can use this feature to have POPcon PRO scan the email headers for certain strings in the mail headers as a precondition for the execution of a rule or as condition to tag email as SPAM.
- Improved: Notify postmaster if mail is moved to TOOLARGE folder
POPcon now sends a notification email to the postmaster address (general configuration tab) if an incoming email is blocked by your Exchange Server because it is too large. POPcon moves such emails into a folder named TOOLARGE.
- New: Daily log files
POPcon keeps a log file (c:\program files\POPcon\POPconSrv.log) that is shortened daily to a manageable size. Now you can configure POPcon to instead keep daily log files (POPconSrvDATE.log).
- New: Support for Exchange recipient filtering
Serveral customers asked for this: Before version 3.40 POPcon would tirelessly try to forward an email to exchange again and again even if exchange did not accept it because the recipient did not exist and the administrator had recipient filtering enabled in the Exchange configuration. This version now supports this exchange feature and drops the email if no recipient is accepted by Exchange.
- Improved: Wrong message length ignored
POPcon now ignores it when the message size of the received email differs from the size originally advertised from the POP3 server during the LIST command. This often seems to happen when antivirus- or antispam-enabled firewalls remove attachments from emails downloaded by POPcon.
- Improved: Message download timeouts
This version accepts "stall" messages from antivirus-enabled routers and firewalls that need a way to keep the timeout timers from stopping a download stalled during antivirus-checking by the firewall.
- Improved: Antivirus signature download
POPcon now uses the HOST header inside the HTTP downloads of antivirus signatures, resulting in much less problems with routers and firewalls.
- Improved: Rules engine: copy to multiple destinations
POPcon PRO now works correctly when multiple Rules fire on a single email causing copies of the mail to be sent to multiple recipients.
- Improved: String removal case-insensitive
The pattern matching for the "remove string from start/end of recipient address" features (Advanced configuration tab) is now case insensitive.
- Improved: Antivirus check of 7bit files

New antivirus signature files are only used when their CRC-Checksum conforms to a list of correct CRCs downloaded from the server. This keeps corrupted signature files (due to download problems or other antivirus software interfering) from being used.

The find string in mail text function no longer searches the (MIME-coded) binary file attachements - this will keep false positives due to random byte and text combinations in the MIME coded files from happening.

Since the supplier of the old engine (RAV) was sold to Microsoft the antivirus signature updates are no longer provided. This version includes a new antivirus engine that updates itself from the internet and can be configured to check for new signatures every hour. The signature download process was also improved: The new version now uses HTTP download exclusively and will cause much less problems with firewalls and proxy servers.

Improved: Antispam function
The antispam function now ignores certain notorious email header fields that contained numbers formatted like IP addresses which were in fact not IP adresses but DLL versions. The new version no longer checks these numbers as if they were IP addresses of possible spam sources.

New: Maximum number of emails downloaded in one pass now configureable
You can now configure the maximum number of emails downloaded from a POP3 server in a single pass. POPcon will stop downloading at this number and forwards the already downloaded emails to your exchange server first, then continues to download the rest of the emails waiting on the server in the next pass. A low number here comes in handy when the POP3 server was down for some time or your internet connection broke. Upon reconnecting your users will not have to wait for the first piece of email to arrive after all 16.000 emails have been downloaded – the first emails will come in after only this number of emails have been downloaded.

New: Select a network card for external and one for internal network access
If you have more than one network interface card (NIC) in your system you can choose the local IP address that POPcon should use to connect to external addresses on the internet like the POP3 servers and choose another for internal network accesses to your Exchange Server. This is important if only one of the cards is actually connected or allowed to connect to the internet by your local firewall or router.

New: Catch-All function for unknown recipients from domain-wide POP3 mailboxes
Normally, the Exchange Server will return an NDR (non-delivery report) to the sender of every email directed to an address that is not defined in the Active Directory. If you do not want this, use this new POPcon option to have POPcon check the AD for every recipient and substituting a postmaster address for the recipients that can not be found in the AD.
Not available in Windows NT 4.0 installations!

POPcon v3.00 now supports SSL connections to POP3 servers. Use this options to connect to certain POP3 servers (i.e. GMail) that only support encrypted transfers.

POPcon will only replace the domain name, keeping the address part before the “@” intact. You can use this feature to:
- Map multiple external internet domains to the same internal domain without adding every external domain to the recipient policies and without adding all the email addresses to each user again.
- Map an external internet domain to a local internal one without having to add the real internet domain to the Exchange recipient policies and so allowing Exchange to still send email out to the internet to this domain.
